The inaugural Serpentine Pavilion opened 20 years ago this month.
In 2000, the Serpentine Gallery in London’s Kensington Gardens commissioned a specially designed pavilion for its 30th anniversary gala. The brief was to devise an external enclosure for 400 seated guests on the lawn outside the gallery and, responding to the temporary nature of the installation, the studio started with the idea of a tent or marquee.
MVRDV and Airbus have been awarded one of five the “Public Awards” from the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (UABB), which closed yesterday. The “City and the Sky Above” installation, produced by MVRDV and Airbus in collaboration with Squint/Opera, was voted as one of the best exhibits of the 2019–2020 show by visitors to the Biennale in Shenzhen.

Architect Jean-Maxime Labrecque was awarded five design and architecture prizes for his singular project, Infinite Buildings.
Last October 14, he was presented with the Architecture MasterPrize Interior Design of the Year Award at a gala held in the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. In June, Jean-Maxime Labrecque had already won an Azure Magazine AZ Award at a gala that took place at Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works, while earlier in the year, he had received an Excellence Award from the Québec Association of Architects (OAQ), a German Design Award from the German Design Council and a Grand Prix du Design Award for the same work.

Aria is a DIY project/guide to self-producing a protective emergency mask; the project is developed by Studio Pastina during the Covid19 outbreak with the aim of offering, as designers, a little support for facing the emergency. An object that can be comfortable and esthetically pleasing. We believe that, using an extraneous object we are forced to wear, could be easier if the object is comfortable and beautiful.
