At LWK+PARTNERS we believe collaboration is a driver to success, it is at the heart of what we do. We are passionate about knowledge exchange; collaborating with Dubai Design Week presents a unique opportunity to explore & challenge orthodox approaches and perceptions. Our installation is representative of a metaphorical ‘Red Envelope’ – a ‘GIFT’ from Hong Kong to Dubai, reaching across the cultural dived, building friendship, respect, deepening ties between the UAE, China and the MENA Region through a common unifying language – Design.

The MENA Studio of Hong Kong rooted design practice LWK+PARTNERS, is delighted to officially announce that we will take part in a number of exciting activities including: ‘Cool Contemporary China’ pagoda (Art Installation), ‘Tea & Talk’ (Open Studio), ‘Beijing Opera Masks’ (Workshop), ‘The Fourm @Downtown Design’ come join us and immerse the senses in the Chinese Middle Eastern crossover.

Cool Contemporary China (Art Installation)
Journey to the East, LWK + PARTNERS, a leading design firm rooted in Hong Kong will unveil their conceptual pagoda which will be on display at Downtown Design Fair from 12-15 November as part of their prominent fair features. A vessel for display and engagement, Cool Contemporary China is a dynamic canvas for the exhibition of the diversity of every day Chinese life and culture. – A GIFT from Hong Kong.

Envisioned as an abstracted ‘Red Gift Envelope’ through a collage of Chinese motifs, the pavilion’s form is inspired by traditional Chinese art, architecture and cultural landscape. Creating an enigmatic visual and evocative spatial and sensory experience, the pavilion sits as a drum within a drum.

Paying homage to China’s rich filigree heritage, a glittering mesh wraps the outer shell serving as a canvas for Chinese life and culture – illustrating contemporary life and art today. Incisions in the outer layer entice the visitor into an inner passage, leading to the central chamber; where an evocative audio and visual installation enfolds the visitor in the full flavour of our Middle Eastern reinterpretation of contemporary Chinese culture.
