Instead, Rafauli combines the symmetry, monumentality and material richness associated with Beaux-Arts architecture with the geometry and detailing of Art Deco.<\/p>\n<p>The exterior is deliberately restrained compared with the interiors. Limestone gives the house the visual weight of a historic mansion, while bronze, marble and dark timber introduce a more contemporary palette.<\/p>\n<p>Inside, however, the scale becomes much more theatrical. The architecture works together with the pool, grotto, theatre, sports facilities and equestrian elements to create a private resort.<\/p>\n<p>The result is less about architectural minimalism and more about programmatic excess: almost every major component of the property has an entertainment function.<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles Times documented the property in detail when Drake placed the Hidden Hills compound on the market in 2022.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Its architecture is deliberately monumental, but the monumentality is combined with highly personal spaces: a recording studio, basketball court, awards room, sports memorabilia displays and an oversized master suite.<\/p>\n<p>The YOLO Estate took a different route. Here, the existing Tudor-style architecture became the backdrop for a private entertainment compound. The swimming pool, grotto, waterslide, theatre and sports facilities were as important to the experience as the house itself.<\/p>\n<p>The Beverly Crest property demonstrates a third approach: acquiring an already-established architectural work and making it part of a personal property portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>This makes Drake&#8217;s residential architecture particularly interesting from an editorial perspective.
